PANAMA CITY BEACH — The White Cessna 172 used the 17th green at Shark’s Tooth to take off Monday, course officials confirmed.

The Cessna was flying over Panama City Beach on Saturday when it lost power and the pilot, Tony Weedn, was forced to make an emergency landing on the green. Weedn and his passengers were not harmed in the incident. The FAA and the owners of the rented plane examined the craft Monday and determined it could fly back to Fort Walton Beach.

A Cessna 172 Just like this made an emergency landing at Sharks Tooth Golf Course and then was cleared by the FAA to takeoff.

A different pilot under the supervision of the FAA was allowed to take off Monday afternoon, Shark’s Tooth officials said.

The FAA is investigating the incident but did not release any details on the situation Monday. Shark’s Tooth officials said the green was not damaged by the landing or takeoff.
