As workers rushed to tie down planes, winds blew over one before crews could reach it.


WACO (July 25, 2010) – A small plane was flipped on its top at Waco Regional Airport Sunday evening.

Winds at speeds of up to 78 mph blew through the area as thunderstorms moved in.

At around 7p.m. workers began chaining down planes, but one toppled before crews could reach it.

Workers at the airport say it is the responsibility of the plane’s owner to make sure the aircraft is tied down. The owner of the flipped plane could not be reached Sunday night.

Trees were also downed and power outages reported during the storm Sunday in Waco.
