This is the sound of 50 or more ELTs all going off at the same time. Taken at 2011 Sun-n-Fun shortly after the heavy storm that caused so much damage, including flipping over several planes, which set off their ELTs.

Explorer Post 491′s Sun ‘n Fun Recovery
When an F1 tornado roared through Sun ‘n Fun at Lakeland, Florida on Thursday, square in the path of it was a completed Kitfox that Explorer Post 491 hoped to raffle away. It was not to be. The storm destroyed the airplane, but not the post’s spirit. AVweb’s Russ Niles reports on how the Explorers are not just recovering but thriving.

Insane Storm – Sun ‘n’ Fun 2011
A heavy squall line moves through the Lakeland Linder Regional Airport at the perfect time – during the annual Sun’n'Fun convention and air show. The National Weather Service confirmed later that day that an EF-1 tornado did in fact touch down on airport property. You can see a tent from Cessna’s display crash into the Media Center’s pavillion during the clip. A total of 40 airplanes were damaged by the incredible rains, straight line winds and what was thought to be a series of microbursts or a small tornado. The campgrounds fared the worst, with some campers and most tents suffering extreme damage.

Storm Rips Sun ‘n Fun
A destructive storm cell packing high winds, torrents of rain, and marble-sized hail hit Sun ‘n Fun in Lakeland, Florida about noon on March 31. At least 40 airplanes were damaged or destroyed, but there were no reports of any serious injuries.
