Slipstream Aviation - History |

| Year Founded: 2006 | |||||||||||||||||
Adventure and travel were part of Mischa Porter’s life from the start. Mischa was born in California, but quickly became well-traveled, living throughout the Pacific Islands and Europe before his fifth birthday. After finally settling in Washington, D.C., Mischa took his first flight at age 15 and became determined to be a professional pilot. He went on to earn a degree in marketing at Utah State University, while finishing his flight training. After obtaining his commercial pilots’ license, Mischa attended an airline preparatory program at Flight Safety International in Vero Beach, FL. This school gave him access to the front office of regional jets and turboprops with only 350 hours of pilot experience. Four years and 3,000 hours later working at Atlantic Southeast Airlines, Mischa decided to start teaching. Mischa obtained his flight instructor certificates and began freelancing for several different flight schools. He noticed that none of the schools he taught at upheld the standards of aircraft maintenance or customer service that he desired. It was then that he realized he wanted to create his own flight training facility. Slipstream Aviation was founded in 2006 and boasts the highest standards of training, aircraft maintenance, and customer satisfaction. Mischa is a hands-on owner, involved in every aspect of the business. As chief flight instructor, Mischa employs a small team of top-notch flight instructors. When asked what makes him love owning and operating his own flight school, Mischa proudly claimed, “It’s the most satisfying thing I’ve ever done. The human interaction makes it worth while. I like helping people accomplish such a neat thing; learning how to fly!” Mischa’s passion for flying and drive for consistent excellence are what make first-time students return again and again. |
