Tail Wheel-Tail Dragger Flight Training School Locations. Conventional landing gear describes an undercarriage arrangement consisting of two main weight-bearing wheels forward of the aircraft's centre of gravity, the remaining weight being supported by a tail wheel or skid. The term tail dragger is US aviation jargon for an aircraft with such a conventional undercarriage, although elsewhere in the world a "tail dragger" is an aircraft with a tail skid and the term "tail wheel" is used for an aircraft with a conventional landing gear and a steerable or castering wheel at the tail.
