Academic Flight provides flight training based on a test pilot approach. We use flight test methods as cockpit teaching tools to train advanced pilots and those who aspire to become.
Our courses include multiengine (private/commercial/MEI), upset prevention and recovery training (UPRT), an aircraft stability and control course (essentially a non-aerobatic version of UPRT), detailed stall/spin training, and CFI training. Tailwheel, seaplane, and glider training are also available, either in owner supplied aircraft or upon special prearrangement. We also provide basic flight training for any type of FAA certificate/rating, and pride ourselves in high-quality, efficient instruction in minimum flight times. One of our signature courses is the turnback maneuver after engine failure after takeoff, which you will get to practice at realistic altitudes from a short runway after rigorous theoretical instruction and in-flight airmanship development.
We also offer interactive online instruction via the Zoom conferencing system. Regardless of your location, we can practice with you with your flight simulator on your home computer via screen sharing to save you flight training time (e.g. cross-country procedures for student pilots and instrument training). And we will prepare you expertly for the oral portion of your FAA practical test with scenario-based training and questions.
