About Illini Glider Club

Illini Glider Club, established in 1948, is a nonprofit Soaring Society of America chapter now based at Vermilion Regional Airport in Danville. Student pilots and transitioning airplane pilots can learn with club instructors, and members fly club sailplanes without an hourly rental fee while paying for aerotows.

The club normally flies weekends through much of the year and offers standard and mile-high introductory glider rides. Full, youth, family, service, VIP and temporary guest memberships support different levels of participation, with SSA membership required for flying members. The obsolete Monticello/Flying Illini Airport record has been replaced with the club's current Danville address, airport, phone and role-based email.
