Marfa Gliders

Marfa Gliders operates year-round by appointment at Marfa Municipal Airport with Master Flight Instructor and FAA Designated Pilot Examiner Burt Compton. Personalized instruction can help pilots finish a glider rating, prepare for a practical test, add a flight-instructor glider rating, or renew and reinstate CFI-Glider privileges.

Additional services include Private, Commercial and CFIG checkrides; flight reviews and rusty-pilot refresher work; advanced thermaling, accuracy-landing and cross-country soaring coaching; tow-pilot training and recurrent endorsements; aerotows for privately owned sailplanes; instructional rides; and ground-crew coaching. Training and towing are available only when the instructor is on site.
