Metropolitan State University of Denver's Aviation and Aerospace Science Department offers a B.S. with concentrations in Professional Flight Officer, Aviation and Aerospace Operations, and the FAA Air Traffic-Collegiate Training Initiative. Professional Flight Officer students combine university ground, simulation and aviation coursework with FAA flight certificates earned through outside flight schools. Degree requirements include Private Pilot, Instrument Rating and Commercial single-engine plus an approved CFI, commercial multi-engine or ground-instructor option. Students who complete the specified Part 141 instrument and commercial training with an approved partner may qualify for MSU Denver's restricted-ATP authorization at 1,000 or 1,250 hours.

On-campus Aeronautics and Aerospace Systems Laboratories support flight simulation, avionics, air-traffic-control operations, satellite missions, UAS and aerospace data work. Because the university does not conduct flight training at Tall Timber Airport and uses multiple independent partners, that false airport assignment has been removed.
