The Ohio State University Department of Aviation

The Ohio State University Department of Aviation combines collegiate aviation academics with FAA Part 141 flight education at the university-owned Don Scott Field.

The Professional Pilot specialization is available within the Aviation and Air Transportation majors. Its flight sequence develops Private, Instrument, Commercial and multi-engine qualifications, with CFI and CFII pathways and FAA-authorized Restricted ATP eligibility for qualifying graduates. Training uses a university fleet, flight-training devices and the controlled Class D environment at The Ohio State University Airport.

The department also supports aviation and aviation-management degree programs, an FAA aircraft-dispatch curriculum leading toward Part 65 certification, remote-pilot certification training and advanced simulation, including a Boeing 737 flight-deck simulator. Enrollment in flight education is managed separately because demand is high.
