About Seaplane Safety Institute

Seaplane Safety Institute is Southern Seaplane's FAA Part 141 recurrent-training program at its private land-and-water airport in Belle Chasse, Louisiana.

The structured three-day course is designed for pilots who already hold a seaplane rating. Day one covers aircraft-specific systems, POH or AFM knowledge and operating techniques; day two provides underwater-egress training; and day three includes two hours of flight instruction. The course can also satisfy a flight review.

Southern Seaplane developed the institute from procedures used to train its Part 135 charter pilots. The parent flight school separately advertises Part 141 seaplane add-on rating courses taught by instructors who also fly charter operations.
