About Tucson Soaring Club
Tucson Soaring Club is a member-operated glider training organization at El Tiro Gliderport west of Marana, Arizona.
The club provides ground and flight instruction, introductory orientation flights, glider rental and aerotow service. Its seven-sailplane fleet includes several two-seat primary and advanced trainers as well as single-seat and cross-country gliders, supported by two Piper Pawnee towplanes. Flight instruction and use of club aircraft are available through the club's membership structure.
Founded in 1967, the club first flew from Ryan Field. Members moved to the former Marana Auxiliary Field No. 5 in 1983, cleared runways, built hangars and named the site El Tiro Gliderport.
