University of the District of Columbia Community College operates its Aviation Maintenance Technology programs from Hangar 2 at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport.

The FAA-approved Part 147 certificate requires 48 credits and about 1,900 hours of lecture and laboratory training across general, airframe and powerplant subjects. Students develop practical skills in aircraft structures and systems, hydraulics, electricity and electronics, welding, composites, instrumentation, turbine and reciprocating engines and propellers before becoming eligible for FAA mechanic examinations.

UDC also offers an Associate in Applied Science in Aviation Maintenance Technology, combining the technical sequence with college-level general education. The airport hangar contains training aircraft and equipment and a testing center for the FAA written examinations.
