Southern Union State Community College - Aviation Maintenance Technology

Southern Union State Community College offers a two-year Aviation Maintenance Technology program designed to prepare students for FAA testing and Airframe and Powerplant mechanic certification.

Training covers turbine and reciprocating engines, hydraulics, nonmetallic structures, fuel systems, corrosion control, propellers, sheet metal, flight controls, landing gear and electrical systems. The current college catalog lists Airframe and Powerplant pathways as Associate in Applied Science, certificate and short-term certificate programs, with Airframe based in Opelika and Powerplant based in Valley.
