About Ohio University Department of Aviation

Ohio University Department of Aviation offers an Aviation Flight Bachelor of Science built around its FAA-approved Part 141 program at the university-owned airport.

Students begin aviation coursework in their first year and progress from Private Pilot through Instrument, Commercial and Certified Flight Instructor qualifications. The curriculum also covers business management, meteorology and other professional-aviation subjects, and qualifying graduates are eligible for a 1,000-hour Restricted ATP pathway.

Flight training uses a university-owned fleet of 15 aircraft, including Cessna, Piper and Cirrus models, supported by multiple flight simulators. The department also offers an Aviation Management bachelor's program.
