About Hampton University

Hampton University Aviation offers bachelor's-level preparation for professional flight and aviation-management careers. The B.S. in Flight Education combines university coursework with FAA-approved Part 141 flight training through Rick Aviation at Newport News/Williamsburg International Airport. Students work toward private, instrument, commercial and flight-instructor credentials, with multiengine training included in the program's certification goals.

Aviation Management students may concentrate in Airport Administration, Air Traffic Control or Uncrewed Aircraft Systems. The department is an FAA Air Traffic Collegiate Training Initiative participant, and the UAS concentration prepares students for drone-focused operations and management. Flight students travel from campus to PHF for training, so the former Langley Air Force Base mapping has been replaced with the university's documented training airport.
