About Southwestern Illinois College

Southwestern Illinois College provides collegiate pilot, maintenance and aviation-operations education in the St. Louis region.

The Belleville-based pilot program includes Private, Instrument, Commercial and multi-engine airplane training, optional CFI and CFII courses, and a helicopter path through Commercial/Instrument and flight-instructor credentials. SWIC provides Part 141 ground and simulator training, while Part 141 flight courses are delivered for college credit with Ideal Aviation in Sauget. Certificate and associate-degree students can continue into an on-campus Southern Illinois University Carbondale bachelor's pathway.

At the Sam Wolf Granite City Campus, the FAA-approved Aviation Maintenance Technology program offers Airframe, Powerplant, combined A&P and associate-degree options, including accelerated and two-year formats. SWIC also offers an avionics certificate, aviation-management degree and FAA aircraft-dispatcher certificate.
