About Tennessee State University Aviation Flight Training

Tennessee State University Aviation Flight Training is a 120-credit Bachelor of Science pathway in the College of Engineering's Department of Applied and Industrial Technologies.

The four-year sequence includes Private Pilot flight labs, instrument ground and flight training, Commercial ground and flight labs and flight-instructor ground and flight work. Supporting study covers general aviation operations, human factors, meteorology, aviation safety and legislation, aircraft systems, management and an introduction to air traffic control.

TSU is FAA-approved to conduct pilot ground-school courses under Part 141. The department also supports students with a Redbird MCX full-motion simulator and offers a separate Aviation Management concentration and a community-college transfer pathway.
