University of North Dakota Aerospace

University of North Dakota Aerospace, formally the John D. Odegard School of Aerospace Sciences, combines collegiate aviation degrees with extensive flight and simulation training in Grand Forks.

Commercial Aviation students train for Private, Instrument, Commercial, multi-engine, CFI and CFII qualifications through predominantly FAA Part 141 curricula. Helicopter Operations covers Private, Instrument, Commercial and instructor pathways in Robinson R44 aircraft, while an amphibious Top Cub supports an optional seaplane-rating course. The fleet includes more than 100 airplanes, helicopters and training devices.

Additional undergraduate programs include Enhanced AT-CTI Air Traffic Management, Unmanned Aircraft Systems Operations, Aviation Safety and Operations, Aviation Studies and Aviation Management. Eligible aviation majors can complete UND's FAA-approved Part 65 aircraft-dispatch curriculum. The aviation program began in 1968 with two donated airplanes and twelve students.
