About Willamette Valley Soaring Club

Willamette Valley Soaring Club is a nonprofit, member-operated soaring club based at North Plains Gliderport about 30 minutes west of Portland.

Newcomers can take an Introduction to Soaring ride or join through a one-season introductory membership to learn with club instructors. Students pay club glider-rental and tow charges and arrange instructor fees directly; membership and participation in field operations are central parts of the training model.

The club's fleet includes Blanik L-23 primary trainers, Grob 103 Twin Astirs for cross-country training, an SZD-51-1 Junior and a Libelle 201B, supported by Cessna 188 and Piper Pawnee towplanes. Operations run seasonally from April through October.
