Description

Mercer County Community College operates a two-year, AABI-accredited Aviation Flight Technology A.A.S. Ground and laboratory courses are taught at the West Windsor campus, while supervised flight instruction takes place at Trenton-Mercer Airport using single- and multi-engine aircraft and college flight-training facilities.

The professional-pilot curriculum leads through Private Pilot, Instrument Rating and Commercial Pilot, with multi-engine training and an additional Flight Instructor certificate program available. The college holds FAA Air Agency certification and examining authority for applicable knowledge and practical tests. Eligible graduates can pursue a 1,250-hour restricted ATP pathway.

Other current options include an Aviation Management A.S. and a 21-week Rotorcraft Transition concentration for pilots who already hold commercial and instrument helicopter credentials and need fixed-wing transition, multi-engine training and time building. Because that concentration does not teach initial helicopter certificates, the inaccurate Helicopter Flight School category has been removed.
