Des Moines Public Schools Aviation Technology Academy

Des Moines Public Schools Aviation Technology Academy is a Central Campus career and technical education program for high-school students.

The FAA Part 147 Aviation Maintenance track at 201 County Line Road can span up to three years. Students progress from introductory aviation and General maintenance subjects into Airframe structures and systems, using a modern laboratory, classroom and six aircraft for work with aluminum, composites, electricity, flight controls and aircraft systems. Coursework provides high-school credit and FAA-recognized training toward the Airframe mechanic certificate.

The academy also offers a separate Private Pilot Ground School track at Central Campus on Grand Avenue. That classroom and simulator curriculum prepares students for the FAA Private Pilot knowledge examination and includes remote-pilot ground training.
