About Southern University at Shreveport

Southern University at Shreveport operates its Aerospace Technology Center in the historic original hangar at Shreveport Downtown Airport.

The Airframe and Powerplant Maintenance curriculum combines technical lectures with hands-on laboratory work in the general, airframe and powerplant subject areas. Students can pursue the full technical diploma, an Airframe certificate or a Powerplant certificate, with the program structured to prepare graduates for FAA mechanic examinations and professional certification.

The center serves traditional college students, dual-enrollment learners and working adults and maintains industry relationships with aviation-maintenance employers that recruit program graduates.
